Djerba – Tamezret – Douz (Saharan bivouac)
After breakfast, departure by vehicle toward the mainland. You cross the Roman causeway connecting Djerba to the mainland, then gradually enter the mineral world of the Tunisian Dahar. Stop at Tamezret, a Berber village clinging to the mountainside, with narrow streets and ochre stone houses. Typical lunch in an authentic setting. Continue toward Douz, the "gateway to the desert." Meet your Saharan guide and his team of camel drivers, true guardians of the desert and bearers of tradition. After introductions, set off for a crossing of the dunes on foot or by camel, at the slow and soothing pace of the caravans, amid the stunning white dunes of the Grand Erg Oriental. Late afternoon, set up camp in the heart of the dunes, in a carefully chosen spot sheltered from the wind and bathed in golden light. Free time to contemplate the sunset, when the sand ignites with warm hues and the horizon melts into infinite silence. During this suspended moment, the team busies itself preparing dinner, cooked over a wood fire according to Saharan recipes. The evening unfolds around the campfire, marked by the songs and music of the camel drivers, passed down through generations, with drums, nomadic poetry, and shared laughter. Finally, night settles in under a spectacular starry sky. For those who wish, sleep under the stars, wrapped in the silence of the desert and the softness of the sand.
